4th Annual Mighty Muskingum River Raft Race

 

 

This year as part of the "Rivers, Trails and Ales Festival", FLMR will host the 4th Annual Mighty Muskingum River Raft Race. Channel your inner Huck Finn and race your homemade raft down a two mile stretch of the scenic Muskingum River!

 

Register early, or on the day of the race!

 

When

August 12, 2012

Check in at 1 PM and Shove-off at 2 PM

 

Where

Begin at the Indian Acres Boat Ramp (@ the Wash. Co. Fairgrounds)

Race ends at the Harmar Bridge in Marietta

Corporate $50

Non-profit $25

Private $25

*all proceeds benefit the work FLMR does within the Lower Muskingum Watershed

 

Awards will be given to the first team to cross the finish line in the following categories:

Heavyweight

Lightweight

Youth Crew (ages 13-17)

Creativity

 

Rules

- All rafts must be homemade! No commercially manufactured nautical parts allowed.

- All rafts must be non-motorized. Paddles, oars, poles, paddlewheels and sails are acceptable

- All participants must wear an appropriate Coast Gaurd approved life jacket during the race.

- Each Raft Must be equipped with a 50' length of 3/8'' towline.

- All minors participating in the race must be accompanied to the race by a parent or legal guardian.

-Youth 12 & under may participate on a team with an adult.

- Each crew member must sign a release of liability waiver prior to entering the water on the day of the event.

-Anyone acting without regard to the saftey of themselves or others will be disqualified.

-All entries will be inspected prior to launch and will be subject to disqualificaition based on the above provisions.

- All rafts and raft parts must be removed from the premises immediately after the awards presentation.
